SJF MASKPARADE FAQs
What is the SJF MaskParade?
With the threat of COVID still active, the Suncoast Jeep Festival team wanted to put together an event that would allow the community to rally together to put on a socially distant event in a safe environment that would allow kids the opportunity to still be kids, dress up and trick or treat. By hosting the event at the Sarasota Fairgrounds, we will have plenty of room to spread out and create a socially distanced experience full of fun for all ages.
When and where is the event?
The event will be held on October 31, 2020 at the Sarasota Fairgrounds. The gates will open at 5:00pm and the event will end at 9:00pm
What precautions are you taking to protect against COVID?
All volunteers, vendors and participants will be screened before entry. Anyone displaying symptoms such as a high fever, will not be allowed entry. Everyone entering the Fairgrounds will be required to wear a mask at all times during the event. We will be requiring everyone who enters the fairgrounds to apply hand sanitizer and will be encourage to use the provided hand sanitizer stations along the trick-or-treat route. All volunteers will be required to wear gloves, and will be routinely monitored to ensure proper hand washing and changing of gloves throughout their shift.
How will the event be organized to maintain social distancing?
We will allow staggered entry into the trick or treat area with one-way directional walking paths. Tables will be spaced at least 6 feet from the Jeeps/Vehicles participating and separated with caution tape and each participating vehicle will be spaced 6-feet from each other. This is to ensure that trick or treaters and event participants are socially distanced per CDC recommended guidelines. Additional SJF volunteers will be placed at various points along the route to maintain the flow and ensure social distancing.
What does it cost to participate & what do I need to do? - UPDATED
The Fee to participate in the Jeep/Vehicle Parade sidelines has been waived. Space is limited and we are asking If you have a Jeep/Vehicle that you would like to decorate as part of the displays for the event, you will need to register through our eventbrite ticketing option. Pariticpation will include: an event registration sticker, 2 raffle tickets and parking within the fairgrounds along the mask-parade route. Your Jeep/Vehicle will be safely distanced from the mask-parade route but you will be seen so we encourage you to dress up!
What does it cost to bring my family in and have my kids trick or treat?
We are asking for a suggested donation of $5 per person or one nonperishable food item per person. All monetary proceeds will go to our primary charity, The Academy at Glengary. All food items collected will be donated to a local food bank, ensuring that it will stay with in the local community.
Will candy be handed out?
SJF will provide all candy and other goodies to pass out to trick or treaters. Trick-or-treating tables with be spaced out, one table per two jeeps. A masked and gloved volunteer will be stationed at each table to distribute the goodies to each child. Volunteers will drop the goodies directly into each child’s treat bag in order to limit the amount of contact between participants. ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE CANDY OR GOODIES ALLOWED.
Will there be a costume contest?
Yes, we will have costume contest for kids as well as for adults.
Will there be a best decorated Jeep/Vehicle contest?
Yes, we will have a contest for best decorated Jeep/Vehicle as well as a best overall theme, so be sure to dress up to match your decorations!
Will there be food or vendors?
Yes, we will have both Jeep and local vendors as well as some amazing food trucks. So be sure to come hungry.
How will you keep food and vendor areas socially distanced?
The food vendors will have mobile versions of ordering and our SJF volunteers will help minimalize contact and help maintain distancing. Our vendors will have booths or tables setup and will have options for selling and pickup of merchandise.
